Prep Work

Very cold outside, today. But inside the house is nice and warm.

Come on in, welcome to our house!The painters started their prep work today. They have to fill all of the nail holes the carpenter left behind.
And cover all the cabinets.

And take down all the doors.

Another Step Done

Fireplace and cabinets are almost done. Just have to stain the wood and add the stone.
Crown over the cabinets is done now, too.

Island is ready for a counter top.

The stairwell is also ready to be stained. Then they will add the spindles.

Movin' On Up

The front columns got finished today. We can't wait to see the stone after the house is painted (we will be waiting a while!!!!).The carpenter worked on our staircase today. He put "end caps" on the stairs and was ready to start on the banister and posts.
He also finished the "plant shelf".
The revised plan is to have the carpenter done by Monday. On Monday the painters will start by staining all the wood, painting the woodwork, and the then painting the walls.

The counter top people came today to measure for the counters. It will probably take a couple weeks for the counters to come in. In the mean time the flooring people will have to be in, too.

We feel so close yet so far. I just can't wait to move in!

Slow Progress

This is the entryway around our front door. The wood and door will all be stained dark like the cabinets. The carpenter took a couple days off to finish up another job. We hope he is back at our house tomorrow and done by Christmas. The stone guys are making some progress.
They finished the garage and have moved to the columns on the front porch. I really like the way the stone turned out!

The kitchen cabinets are in and ready for the counter top guy to come and measure.

Moving Right Along

This is the cabinets around the fireplace. They will be stained to match the mantel. The TV will hang over the mantel. The woodwork around the front door.
All the doors and windows on the first floor will have woodwork like this.

On this cold, winter day the stone on the outside of the house is going up. But the stone is looking really good!

As you can see we are getting closer to moving in. No set date yet. Our contract says the end of February but I think is will be more like the end of January. We hope to NOT pay February rent.

Changes Inside and Out

The masons chose today of all days to work on the stone on the front of the house. Here they are working on drying the base coat with a propane torch.
Here are the tents they set up so they can put the stone up.
The carpenter made our cubbie/coat area today.

And he worked on the trim around the front door.
I painted some sample colors for the inside of the house today. I think the grey and the brown are keepers but we are trying to decide between the two gold colors.

Kitchen

Most of the kitchen cabinets got set in place today.

The end will be the desk area.

Closets Taking Shape

Don't let the nice, bright sun fool you. It was scary cold today but I wanted a new picture of the outside of the house. There are 4 base cabinets in....and more...
and more to go.Our pantry is starting to take shape. There will be more shelves on each side.
I do believe that our geo-thermal loops have been hooked up.
