Moving Day (Part 1)

Tomorrow is moving day. We will start moving into the rental house tomorrow and finish up on Thursday. We close on our current home on Friday. If anyone is free tomorrow night come by and move something. We will have pizza and drinks.

Because we are moving, we will be off-line for a few days. I will be sure to keep taking pictures and update when I can.

Foundation

We have a foundation. They took the forms off today and added moisture barrier. The garage is on the right and porch is on the left. We will need lots of dirt to bring the front yard up to the front step. Ben was in there running around the foundation. This is the living room / den side of the house.
This is the kitchen / mud room side.

Checking Progress

We had to come by after the cement truck left to see the progress. The boys were a little upset that they could not get in "the hole" tonight. This is our front porch.
The far end of this room will be the mud room. Then you will come into the kitchen. The area closest to the camera is the living room.

The forms for the basement are at the site and ready to be put into place. We should see more big progress on Monday.

We Have Footings!

We went out to take a look at the completed footings tonight. It is fun to think about what goes where. This was Brent's first chance to see "the hole".Drew and Ethan spent most of their time climbing on the dirt pile.

Footings

Today we got footings.

They asked if I wanted to help. My thought was that if I helped, I should get a discount. No one could confirm the discount so I left the work to the professionals.

Our Builder

Our builder called me today to let me know the digger was there and working hard. He knows how excited we are so he just calls to give me little updates. Too bad Ben was still at school and the twins were napping. We may have missed the digger but loved seeing the progress.

Here It Is - The Hole...

Here is the hole in the ground. We ended up getting there too late to see the digger. It did not take long because I drove by in the morning and there was no action. Then after school the hole was dug and the digger gone. Boys still had a great time playing in the dirt.

Looking Forward To A Big Day

The plan is to start digging tomorrow. Can't wait to go and check things out in the morning. I will update pictures as soon as something changes!

The fact that we are ready to dig means that we worked out the "extra 2 feet" problem. We are going to take 1 foot from the garage and 1 foot from the porch. A very nice compromise!

First Set Back

Okay, we started building today and we already have a major problem. Builder called to tell us the house is too wide. There seems to be different rules for a two story home than for a ranch home. So, does the 2 feet come from the garage or the porch? Brent and I have different ideas on this as you might guess. But I think I am going to come out on the short end of this one. It will still be a great porch with room for a porch swing.

The house is all staked out and ready for the big digger.

The boys should really enjoy watching!

This Is The Goal

Just A Lot

The time has finally come. Time to dig a hole. Here is our lot with nothing on it. We expect to dig this week but of course the first time we get rain in a month is the week we want to dig a hole.
