The Framing Continues

No rain for most of the day so the framers were able to get some more work done. The house is really starting to take shape now. However, the lot is a soupy mess of mud.

This picture is from the back of the house. The kitchen will be to the left, the slider is in the middle and there will be 3 windows in the living room to the right.

Up It Goes

Here is the first floor. Lots of rain today but we have had 3 good work days and the builders have made lots of progress. Here is were the stairwell will go. They will go up in a U shape.
Here is my front porch.
We also got new neighbors to the north this week. The house just got finished.

More Wood

Another big load of wood. Too rainy to do anything with it today but it is there and ready to go.

Looks like the well digging part may be done. Brent knows more about this than I do but I think they now have to connect the wells to each other and to the house. At any rate, the big truck is out of the front yard. Progress!

Real Progress

They started framing yesterday and it looks like they got the basement done. Today they started on the first floor. This was at 10:30 am today. Can't wait to go back tonight to see the progress. The well diggers are still in the front. No one working this morning. Don't know if they are done or just taking the day off :). It has been great to have a few nice days to get some real work

done.

The Well Diggers Made It!

Today is a great day to dig a well. By 3:30 they had 2 wells done and working on the 3rd (we need 5). We hope they can finish tomorrow. All it takes is a little nice weather and things start moving again.

More Fun Stuff

Brent and I went to look a cabinets and counter tops yesterday. This is what we think we are going with. It is a Maple cabinet with a darker finish. The counter top is a composite material made out of sea shells from the bottom of the ocean. It is as hard and durable as quartz but much less expensive. It is made in Carlisle, IA.

Something New

I know it has been a while since the last post but nothing has changed in that time. Now we finally see SOME progress. The rain and slow well diggers have slowed our progress but we hope we are ready to roll now. The well diggers still have not come (over a week past due) but I guess their truck and drills are in some place they can not get out of. We expect them on Mon. or Tue. next week. In the mean time, they are going to start framing!!!! Here is our first wood shipment. Can't wait to see it start to go up!

We Have A Floor

They came and poured the basement floor today.
And the garage floor.And added a gas meter. Busy day!

Talked with our builder today. He said the plan is to cut the floor tomorrow. Then on Thur. or Friday the wells for the geo-thermal will start being drilled. The wells will probable take 3 days. Then we will start framing about Wed. of next week. All of this is dependant on the weather, of course!

Brent an I need to get working on finding cabinets right away. We also need to go and look at stone for the outside and fireplace and should start looking at tile. Anyone available to babysit?

Ahhhhhh...Warm Basement

Today may have been cold but they were finally able to get some work done. We will have in-floor heating in the basement fueled by the geo-thermal unit. They came and put the tubes down today. Now they can pour the basement floor, the garage, and I think the porch.

We are hopping for a big week with the floors being poured and wells for the geo-thermal unit being dug. We will see how much the weather will let us get done.Here is Ben waving from the back yard.

Moving Dirt

They spent the day back filling around the house today. When I took the twins out, about 6:30 pm, the guy was still hard at work. He had used almost all of the huge dirt pile from the back. He said most of it went into the hole that will be the porch. Gotta love that big front porch! Here is the new driveway.

Not Much Has Changed

From the front it looks like not much has changed.But they have been hard at work on the inside.We even have a sump-pump.

We have also been very hard at work. We moved out of our old home into a rental home. A big THANK YOU to all of you that helped. We could never have pulled this off without you!
